MARION, Ind. — A quiet Thursday night turned violent in Marion after a 25-year-old man was shot inside his own bedroom while playing a video game, leading to the arrest of a juvenile suspect, police confirmed.
According to the Marion Police Department, Grant County Central Dispatch received a call at 10:51 p.m. on January 9, 2026, reporting a shooting at a residence in the 700 block of West 14th Street. Officers responding to the scene found the victim, who said he was inside his second-floor bedroom when he suddenly felt something strike him in the neck.
The man was transported to Marion Health and later airlifted by helicopter to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, where he was listed in stable condition.
Juveniles Identified as Persons of Interest
During the investigation, Marion Patrol officers identified a group of juveniles as persons of interest. Several were located at the Marion Green Apartments on South Maple Street, while another juvenile was later found on West 12th Street.
Detectives determined that a 14-year-old male intentionally pointed and fired a firearm toward the victim’s bedroom window, striking him. The juvenile was taken into custody and charged with Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon.
The suspect was transported to the Allen County Juvenile Center, and the case will be forwarded to the Grant County Probation Department, with assistance from the Indiana State Police.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and whether additional individuals may be involved. Police emphasized the seriousness of the incident, noting how close the situation came to becoming fatal.
