acoma Police have launched a homicide investigation after a 14-year-old was found with a gunshot wound following a reported vehicle collision Friday afternoon on the 6400 block of McKinley Avenue.
Officers were dispatched around 3:00 p.m. on December 5, 2025, for reports of a crash in the area. Shortly after, police learned that one of the people involved in the vehicle may have suffered a gunshot wound.
Responding officers located a 14-year-old victim and immediately began lifesaving efforts. The Tacoma Fire Department transported the teen to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries, according to police.
During the investigation, an adult male went to Tacoma Police Headquarters and told detectives he was involved in the shooting. He was taken into custody and booked into the Pierce County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder.
Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians responded to process evidence, and the case is being investigated as a homicide. Authorities have not released additional details but say updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
