Brookhaven, GA — The Brookhaven Police Department is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the tragic killing of 16-year-old Edgar Jose Morales Corona.
The deadly shooting occurred on the night of Saturday, June 14, just before 11 p.m., near a McDonald’s on Clairmont Road. Officers initially responded to a call on the Northeast Expressway, between Briarwood Road and the rear entrance of 2924 Clairmont Road, where they discovered Corona suffering from gunshot wounds.
Corona was rushed to the hospital, where he fought for his life for four days before succumbing to his injuries. His funeral is scheduled for this Friday, a heartbreaking reminder of a young life cut far too short.
Detectives are actively working the case, and the community is being urged to come forward with any information. Police believe the public’s help is vital in bringing justice to Corona’s family.
“This is a devastating loss for this family and our community,” a Brookhaven Police spokesperson said. “We are committed to finding those responsible, and we need the public’s help to do that.”
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Brookhaven Police Department or reach out to Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta anonymously at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
