It is with profound sorrow and a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of Captain Lawrence “Larry” Skinner, a beloved member of Aviation Transport International (ATI). Larry passed away leaving behind not just a remarkable legacy in aviation, but a network of friends, colleagues, and fellow pilots who will never forget his unwavering passion and generous spirit.
Captain Skinner’s love for flight was boundless. Whether navigating the skies in a hot air balloon, maneuvering amphibious aircraft, or commanding the flight deck of a transport jet, Larry brought excellence, curiosity, and joy to every cockpit he entered. Aviation wasn’t just a career for Larry—it was a calling he embraced wholeheartedly, with a sense of adventure that inspired all who flew with him.
More than a skilled aviator, Larry was a mentor, a leader, and a friend. He was the kind of person who would greet you with a smile after a long flight, offer guidance when it was needed most, and lift up those around him with sincerity and humility. He was a cornerstone of the ATI community—someone who led not only with his hands on the yoke but with his heart.
His presence made our skies brighter and our journeys more meaningful. His memory will continue to soar in every story shared, every lesson passed on, and every flight taken in his honor.
We recognize that this loss is felt deeply, and we encourage all ATI family members to reach out for support. Our Critical Incident Response Program (CIRP) and Pilot Peer Support teams are available for anyone who needs a listening ear during this difficult time.
More information regarding memorial services and ways to honor Captain Skinner’s life and legacy will be shared soon.
Fly high, Captain Larry. Your wings may be still, but your spirit will forever guide us.
In unity,
ATI MEC
