CASNOVIA, Mich. — The Casnovia Township Fire Department is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Deputy Chief Sam Deems, who died in a car accident on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. He was 25 years old.
The department confirmed the tragedy in a Facebook post, describing Sam as “a firefighter like no other,” whose service was defined by passion, heart, and unwavering commitment to his community.
“He had a deep love for saving lives and making a difference wherever he could,” the department wrote. “Sam truly embodied the spirit of service.”
Sam Deems was more than a firefighter — he was a leader, a friend, and a dedicated public servant. Despite his young age, he had already risen to the role of Deputy Chief, a reflection of both his talent and his drive to help others.
He is survived by his wife, Morgan Deems, who now faces an unimaginable loss. In support of Morgan, the family has launched a fundraiser on Giveahand.com to assist with funeral costs and provide support during this difficult time.
“It is with the deepest sorrow and heavy hearts that we share the tragic news of the passing of one of our own,” the fire department stated.
As news spread through the community, residents and fellow first responders paid tribute to Sam’s courage, kindness, and example of selfless service. His death marks a significant loss not only for Casnovia Township but for everyone who had the honor of knowing him.
Deputy Chief Sam Deems’ legacy will live on in the lives he touched, the service he gave, and the love he shared.
