
Sandy Township, Ohio — A wave of grief has swept through Tuscarawas County following a devastating motorcycle crash that claimed the lives of Richard Townsend, Jr. and Jennifer Byers late Tuesday night, June 24, 2025. The fatal collision occurred just before 11:00 p.m. on State Route 43 in Sandy Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP).
Authorities report that the crash involved a motorcycle that went off the right side of the road, striking a guardrail and ejecting both occupants. Despite life-saving efforts, both Townsend and Byers were pronounced dead at the scene.
The tragic news has left family, friends, and the surrounding community in mourning, remembering two lives lost far too soon.
