
New South Wales Police is investigating a tragic death incident on Thursday, 26 June. According to reports, officials were called to a report of a possible jumper.
NSW Police were called to the report of a jumper at a high-rise on Pitt Street, an official said on the scene. Multiple departments responded to the scene for an active investigation. A police cordon and a tent have been set up in the areas of the Pitt Street Mall, 370 Pitt Street, Babylon Rooftop, and the scene of the suicide.
Traffic diversions remain in place as emergency services continue to secure the scene. Locals on the scene said they were terrified seeing a person take their own life due to mental health battles at the mall. According to an eyewitness, the victim leaped off a building, landing on the bare floor.
Arriving officials located the unnamed victim in a pool of their blood. The identity of the individual involved is pending the notification of a next of kin.
Following the incident tonight, a heavy police presence remains in the area of Pitt Street. This is an active investigation.
