Edward “Eddie” Luke Gillespie, age 76, passed away peacefully at home in Kissimmee, Florida, on June 29, 2025, at 9:48 p.m., surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 19, 1948, in Donegal, Ireland, Eddie lived a remarkable life defined by service, resilience, compassion, and deep personal connection.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Kimleang Sok, and his cherished siblings Rose & Vito Lansizera and Frank Gillespie. Eddie’s legacy lives on through his children and their spouses: Lisa Gillespie, Alana Gillespie, Deena & Bill Weeks, Raksa & Emily Lim, Kimsrun Lim, Victoria Lim, and Fiona Gillespie. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Arianna Rose, Peyton Weeks, Brayden Weeks, and Maya Grace—all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
A proud Vietnam War veteran, Eddie served his country with courage and honor. After his service, he became a successful business owner and, most notably, a dedicated member of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) for over 43 years. Eddie’s life was a shining example of redemption and service to others. He mentored and sponsored countless individuals through their own recovery journeys, offering hope, wisdom, and a listening ear. His door—and his heart—were always open.
Even as he bravely battled leukemia in his final months, Eddie remained committed to supporting others. He continued to attend AA meetings, take calls from those in need, and host gatherings at his home to share his story. In the days leading to his passing, friends, family, and those he helped over the years filled his home and hospital rooms with gratitude, love, and peace.
Eddie often said, “I am rich in the things money can’t buy.” And rich he was—in love, friendship, and the countless lives he touched.
In keeping with his wishes, Eddie’s ashes will be shared between two meaningful places: Cape Canaveral Cemetery in Florida and his family plot in Donegal, Ireland. Details regarding his memorial service will be announced in the coming days.
Eddie Gillespie’s life reminds us all of the power of humility, service, and love. May his memory forever be a blessing to those he uplifted.
