With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Derek Ramsbottom, who died peacefully on June 17, 2025, surrounded by love. Derek’s life was one of quiet strength, humor, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
Derek was a devoted husband, a loving father and stepfather, a doting grandparent, and a true friend to many. He lived a life rooted in care—whether it was for his family, his garden, or the many animals that brought him joy over the years. Known for his quick wit, warm smile, and a great love for the simple pleasures, Derek’s presence lit up every room he entered.
Gardening was one of Derek’s deepest passions. His home bloomed with color and life, a reflection of the gentle, nurturing spirit he carried every day. He also had a special bond with animals, treating them as members of the family and advocating for their well-being.
Derek valued authenticity and sincerity over formality. As such, his family will honor him with a celebration of life on July 18, 2025, keeping in line with his wishes for a day without fuss—just a gathering of loved ones sharing memories, laughter, and gratitude for the time they had with him.
In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted in Derek’s memory to Kidney Research UK, a cause close to his heart and a meaningful way to continue his legacy of compassion and care.
