RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga.– Two teenagers, Miranda Myers and Cameron Howard, both 17, have been arrested in connection with a violent road rage shooting that occurred Sunday on Interstate 20, leaving a man and woman injured.
The shooting happened around 4:29 p.m. on I-20 westbound near mile marker 196. According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of gunfire involving two vehicles. When they arrived, they discovered a gray Toyota Camry with multiple bullet holes and two injured occupants.
The male driver had been shot in the left ankle, and the female passenger suffered a gunshot wound to the left shoulder. Both were rushed to Doctors Hospital and are in stable condition, though a relative confirmed the female victim sustained a collapsed lung, spinal damage, and paralysis as a result of her injuries.
The victims told deputies that a blue Tesla pulled up alongside their vehicle while traveling westbound. Myers was allegedly driving the Tesla, while Howard is accused of leaning out of the passenger window and firing five to six rounds into the Camry.
After the shooting, the Tesla exited the interstate at Exit 194 in Columbia County. Authorities later located the vehicle on Banbury Way in Grovetown. Myers was taken into custody at the scene. Howard initially fled on foot but was captured shortly after with assistance from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.
Both suspects are being held at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center. Myers and Howard are each charged with two counts of aggravated assault, while Howard faces an additional charge of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
