Izaak Karter Kroh was born on January 17, 2007, in Boise, Idaho, and passed away far too soon on July 3, 2025, in Bismarck, North Dakota, following a tragic work-related accident.
Just 18 years old, Izaak’s life was filled with energy, ambition, laughter, and a deep love for the people and passions that made him who he was. His sense of humor and his ability to light up a room with laughter will be missed dearly by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
A funeral service to honor Izaak’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 14, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 N 4th St, Bismarck. Visitation will take place the day before, on Sunday, July 13, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck.
Izaak moved to Bismarck with his family in 2009, where he attended Dorothy Moses Elementary and Apple Creek Elementary before progressing to Wachter Middle School and Bismarck High School.
He graduated in May 2025 through Acellus Online High School Academy, a testament to his determination and independent spirit. From a young age, Izaak found joy in sports, playing youth baseball and later joining the Bismarck High School Baseball Team.
Inspired by his brother Braxton, he also became a proud member of the Bismarck High School Boys Swim and Dive Team. He brought the same dedication and enthusiasm to athletics as he did to every other part of his life.
His work ethic was remarkable. Izaak’s first job was with the Larks Baseball Team entertainment staff, where he brought joy to fans as Merifeather the mascot before stepping into the role of Master Griller.
His creativity shone through when he helped build sets for the Sleepy Hollow Theatre, and his practical skills grew during his time with Bismarck Parks and Recreation in building maintenance at the Aquatic Center—where he discovered a newfound love for working out.
Most recently, Izaak had taken on a groundskeeping job at Tom O’Leary Golf Course, where he took great pride in learning the fine details of course upkeep. Cars were a lifelong passion for Izaak.
He dreamed of owning a classic Chevrolet Camaro, orange or black, and had set his sights on buying one after completing Basic Training and AIT with the North Dakota National Guard—a commitment he was actively preparing to fulfill.
Music was another love of his, and attending an Alan Jackson concert was high on his bucket list. He had recently been on the lookout for nearby shows, excited at the possibility of finally seeing the country legend live.
Family was central to Izaak’s life. He cherished trips to Boise to visit his siblings, Megan and Braxton, making the most of every moment they had together. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors—hunting, fishing, and soaking in nature brought him peace and happiness.
His family often joked that he would have gladly traded school for a lifetime of outdoor adventures. Whether he was cruising Main Street with friends, attending local car shows, or unwinding at home watching YouTube, Izaak embraced life with authenticity and passion.
Izaak leaves behind a loving family who adored him: his parents, Tiffany and Duane; his sister, Megan; his brother, Braxton; grandparents, Cindy and Tracy Vanous and Myron and Marie Kroh; aunts and uncles, Heather and Colin Engel, and David and Sara Kroh; cousins, Luca and Crew Engel, Kaitlyn and Ethan Kroh, and Ryan and Erin Voeller.
He will also be deeply missed by extended family and countless friends, especially his best friend since second grade, Zachariah Kuil, with whom he shared endless laughs and unforgettable memories—many of which were made at the family cabin on Lake Metigoshe.
He is preceded in death by his beloved dog, Penny; his great-grandparents, Helen and Claude Braunagel, Elwyn Vanous, Harris and Laura Morey, Rudolph and Ella Kroh; and several great-aunts and uncles who now welcome him with open arms.
Though Izaak’s time with us was short, the impact he made will last forever. His laughter, loyalty, and zest for life live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
