
Kidder County, N.D. — On the evening of Friday, July 25, 2025, a devastating three-vehicle crash on Highway 3 near mile marker 126 claimed the lives of two men and left another seriously injured. The crash occurred around 8:00 p.m. CST under clear weather and good road conditions.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 2008 Pontiac G6, driven by a 36-year-old man from Hensler, was traveling southbound in the northbound lane when it sideswiped a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. The Pontiac became airborne from the impact and collided head-on with a 2010 Dodge Challenger, also heading north.
The driver of the Pontiac G6, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Dodge Challenger, a 61-year-old man from Eagle Butte, South Dakota, was also not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected, and died at the scene.
A 62-year-old male passenger in the Challenger, also from Eagle Butte, was wearing a seatbelt and sustained serious injuries. He was transported by ground and air ambulance to receive medical treatment.
The 47-year-old male driver of the Chevrolet Equinox from Harvey, who was wearing a seatbelt, was uninjured. No charges have been filed in connection with the crash.
The collision drew a significant emergency response due to its severity, involving multiple agencies including the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Kidder County Sheriff’s Office, Steele Police Department, McLean County Sheriff’s Office, Bowdon Ambulance, Steele Ambulance, Kidder County EMS, Wing Ambulance, and others.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
