Lafayette, CA — One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning when their car veered off Highway 24 near 3322 Mount Diablo Boulevard, according to local authorities.
The crash occurred around 4:18 a.m., just before the Pleasant Hill Road offramp. The vehicle, traveling eastbound, left the roadway and came to rest off the highway, adjacent to the shoulder.
Firefighters responded quickly to the scene and attempted to extricate the driver from the wreckage. Despite their efforts, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the crash was reported.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
