The victim, later identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as 45-year-old Christine Moyer of Galena, Ohio, was transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. Despite efforts to save her, Moyer was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
According to Schaumburg police, the suspected gunman was immediately detained at the scene and taken into custody without further incident. Officers also recovered the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting.
Investigators have confirmed that the victim and the suspect knew each other, and early indications suggest that the shooting was not a random act of violence. Police emphasized that the incident was isolated and that there is no ongoing threat to the public or to guests at the hotel.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the suspect, and no charges have been publicly announced as of Saturday morning. Additionally, police have not disclosed the nature of the relationship between the victim and the gunman, or what may have led up to the shooting.

This tragic incident has left many shocked in the Schaumburg community and beyond. Christine Moyer, a resident of Galena, Ohio, had no known ties to the area, and authorities have not said whether she was staying at the hotel or visiting for another reason.
