The Virginia State Police are investigating a tragic single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of 71-year-old James F. Ratliff on Tuesday evening, September 16, 2025.
The crash occurred at approximately 8:15 p.m. in the 1600 block of Riverside Drive (Route 460). According to investigators, a 2006 Chevy HHR was traveling eastbound when it veered off the left side of the roadway and overturned.
Ratliff, who was driving the vehicle, was ejected during the crash and pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.
The Virginia State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
