PORT HURON, MI — The Port Huron and Detroit communities are grappling with grief following the tragic death of 30-year-old Pett Riley, who was fatally shot Monday afternoon, October 13, 2025, at a Marathon gas station on 1301 Military Street. The devastating incident occurred around 4:31 p.m., leaving family, friends, and neighbors in shock.
According to Port Huron Police Chief Brian Kerrigan, officers were dispatched after multiple 911 calls reported gunfire. When police arrived, Riley was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to Lake Huron Medical Center but was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. A 36-year-old woman was taken into custody without incident and is cooperating with investigators.
The Port Huron Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit is leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Officials have not released details regarding a motive or the relationship between Riley and the suspect.
