MESQUITE, Texas — What began as a routine welfare check on Sunday afternoon turned into a heartbreaking scene after 42-year-old Keisha Hilliard was found dead inside her home.
At approximately 4:18 p.m. on October 12, 2025, Mesquite Police officers responded to a residence on Avis Circle after concerned family members were unable to reach Hilliard. Upon arrival, officers spoke with relatives outside the home and, receiving no response from within, forced entry. Inside, they discovered Hilliard had died from an apparent gunshot wound.
Following a preliminary investigation, detectives identified 42-year-old Christopher Whitt, Hilliard’s long-term partner, as the primary suspect in the case. Authorities believe Whitt may have fled the area following the shooting.
The Mesquite Police Department and the United States Marshals Service are now actively searching for Whitt and are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact law enforcement immediately.
Hilliard’s tragic death has left her family, friends, and community devastated. Those who knew her describe Keisha as a loving, vibrant woman whose kindness touched everyone around her. As investigators continue to piece together the events leading up to her death, loved ones are left mourning a life gone too soon.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Mesquite Police or the U.S. Marshals Service to assist in bringing justice for Keisha.
