GARY, Ind. — It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic passing of 21-year-old Demilade Adeyeye, a beloved resident of Hammond, Indiana, who lost her life in a devastating multi-vehicle accident on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, in Gary.
According to the Lake County Coroner’s Office, Demilade was pronounced deceased at 11:40 a.m. at Northlake Methodist Hospital after sustaining fatal blunt-force injuries in the crash. The accident occurred on eastbound I-80 near mile marker 6.4 and involved two passenger vehicles and two semi-trucks. Emergency responders from the Indiana State Police and Gary Fire Department arrived swiftly to assist, but despite their efforts, Demilade sadly did not survive.
The Lake County Coroner’s medicolegal team was dispatched to the hospital shortly after noon. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed at the Lake County Forensic Center in Crown Point to confirm the official cause of death.
Demilade was a bright and loving young woman whose presence brought light and warmth to everyone around her. Known for her ambition, kindness, and infectious smile, she touched countless lives in her community. Family and friends describe her as compassionate, driven, and full of joy — a beautiful soul taken far too soon.
Her sudden passing has left an indescribable void in the hearts of all who knew her. The Hammond community continues to pour out love and support for the Adeyeye family during this heartbreaking time.

The crash remains under investigation by the Indiana State Police.
