NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for 17-year-old Hector Cuarenta of Nacogdoches in connection with a tragic shooting on Hackberry Street Friday morning that left three young people dead.
Two of the victims have been identified as Dequavious LeCharles Brooks, 17, and Edward Alejandro Rivera, 18, both residents of Nacogdoches. The third victim has not yet been publicly identified.

The warrant charges Cuarenta with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in relation to the triple homicide. Police are urging anyone with information about Cuarenta’s whereabouts to contact Crime Stoppers at 936-560-4636.
Officers first responded to the scene at 10:22 a.m., following reports of gunfire in the 1000 block of Hackberry Street. Upon arrival, two victims were found shot and seated inside a black car, while a third was discovered lying in the street. One victim died at the scene, and the other two were transported to a hospital, where they were pronounced deceased.
Assistant Chief of Patrol Dan Taravella confirmed that the investigation indicates the shooting was an isolated, targeted incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the community. Police are requesting public assistance, including witness accounts and home security footage from the area, to aid in the investigation.
As a precaution, Fredonia Elementary School was placed in a secure status Friday morning. Authorities emphasized that there is no threat to the campus and a controlled release occurred during student dismissal.
The Nacogdoches Police Department continues to investigate and urges anyone with information regarding the incident or Cuarenta’s whereabouts to come forward.
