GILBERT, AZ — In a moment that forever changed the lives of an entire family, 2-year-old Spencer, a joyful and spirited little boy, tragically passed away in a drowning accident on June 25, 2025. What was meant to be a typical summer day turned into a devastating loss, leaving his parents, Angie and Chris, and his two siblings facing an unimaginable heartbreak that no family should ever have to endure.
Spencer was the light of his family’s life—a bright, loving, and endlessly curious child whose laughter echoed through every room he entered. With twinkling eyes and a mischievous grin, he brought joy to everyone who crossed his path. He loved dinosaurs, bubbles, story time with Mom, wrestling with Dad, and chasing his older siblings around the yard. Spencer was full of life—so full, in fact, that it’s hard to grasp he’s gone.
“He was the kind of child who made you forget your worries with just one look,” said a close family friend. “His energy, his laugh, the way he’d tilt his head when he was being silly—Spencer had a way of making the world feel better, brighter.”
The accident happened quickly, as drowning tragedies often do. Despite the best intentions and efforts of loving parents, tragedy struck in a split second. Emergency responders were called immediately, and every effort was made to save Spencer’s life—but heartbreakingly, nothing could be done.
Now, Angie, Chris, and their children are trying to navigate the overwhelming pain of losing their baby boy. The grief is deep, the silence in the house unbearable. Their days are now filled with memories—of tiny footsteps running through the hallway, bedtime giggles, favorite stuffed animals—and the cruel absence of those sounds and routines is a pain that words can’t fully express.
The community of Gilbert, stunned and heartbroken alongside the family, has rallied in support. Friends, neighbors, and even strangers have reached out with meals, donations, prayers, and love. A memorial fund has been set up to help the family with funeral costs and give them the space to grieve without the added burden of financial strain.
While no words can bring comfort equal to the weight of such a loss, the family wants Spencer to be remembered not for how his life ended, but for how beautifully he lived it—for the way he lit up a room, for the love he gave freely, and for the happiness he inspired in everyone lucky enough to know him.
His parents, Angie and Chris, have asked the community to hold their children close, to cherish the fleeting, everyday moments, and to remember Spencer by living with the joy and openness that he brought into the world.
A celebration of life service is being planned in the coming days, where family, friends, and all who were touched by Spencer’s spirit can gather, grieve, and honor his memory. Balloons, photos, favorite songs, and stories will fill the air—testaments to a little boy whose short life left an enormous imprint.
Spencer may have only been with us for two short years, but his life was filled with love. He knew laughter, warmth, and the pure joy of being cherished every single day. And while he is gone from this world, his memory will live on—in every whispered bedtime story, in every ray of sunshine, and in every tear shed by those who miss him deeply.
Rest peacefully, sweet Spencer. You were deeply loved, and you will be forever remembered.
