The Coral Springs community and humanitarian circles across the globe are mourning the heartbreaking loss of 53-year-old Alexander Wurm and his 22-year-old daughter, Serena Wurm, who were killed in a small plane crash Monday while on a hurricane relief mission to Jamaica.

According to officials, the plane went down shortly after takeoff from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, crashing into a waterway in a residential area of Coral Springs. The aircraft was bound for Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, Jamaica, carrying relief supplies for victims of Hurricane Melissa, which recently devastated parts of the Caribbean.
Alexander and Serena were both active members of Ignite the Fire Ministry, which released a heartfelt statement honoring their lives of faith and service. The ministry described Alexander as a man remembered for his “warmth and unwavering kindness,” who “devoted his life to serving others.”
“Throughout his life, Alex traveled extensively, reaching various countries and continents, where he tirelessly worked to bring faith, compassion, and support to those in need. His legacy of faith and compassion touched countless lives,” the statement read.
Serena, following in her father’s footsteps, was remembered as “a beacon of empathy and hope,” inspiring others through her commitment to humanitarian work. “Together, their final journey embodied selflessness and courage, reminding us of the power of service and love,” the ministry added.
