A Florida woman was arrested over the weekend after deputies say she barreled down a county highway at **107 mph**, all because she was trying to reach a Little Caesars restaurant before it closed for the night. The incident, equal parts dangerous and baffling, unfolded just after 11 p.m. on Saturday when a Marion County deputy clocked a speeding vehicle traveling nearly twice the posted limit.
According to the arrest report, the deputy pursued the car, which continued at high speed for several miles before finally pulling over. The driver, identified as 22-year-old Kaylee Martin, allegedly told officers she was “just trying to make it to Little Caesars before they lock the doors.” The restaurant was scheduled to close at 11 p.m., and Martin admitted she realized she was running late and didn’t want to miss out on getting a pizza.
Deputies noted that Martin appeared frantic and admitted she knew she was speeding but claimed she “didn’t think it was that big of a deal.” Officers disagreed. Driving more than 40 mph over the limit triggered an automatic reckless driving charge under Florida law, and Martin was taken into custody without incident.
No alcohol or drugs were suspected, according to the sheriff’s office.Authorities emphasized the seriousness of the situation, pointing out that Martin’s excessive speed put her—and everyone else on the road—in significant danger. “It doesn’t matter what you’re late for,” one deputy wrote in the report. “Driving over 100 mph is never worth risking lives.”
Martin was booked into the Marion County Jail on reckless driving charges and later released on bond. The incident has sparked both disbelief and concern locally, with many residents expressing relief that no one was hurt. As for the Little Caesars in question, employees confirmed it had already closed by the time Martin made her attempt—making the dangerous dash not only reckless, but ultimately pointless.
