The creative community of Salt Lake City is heartbroken by the passing of Breeanna Kjerstin Smith, a cherished writer, performer, and champion of local artistry, who died on November 8, 2025. Known lovingly as Bree, she was a radiant presence whose encouragement, imagination, and heartfelt support shaped the lives of so many around her.

#Born and raised in Logan, Utah, Bree carried with her a genuine warmth and sincerity that made her work feel deeply personal and inviting. She had a remarkable ability to make every gathering feel intimate and uplifting. Through her Words From Within workshops and showcases, Bree created environments where people felt valued, understood, and brave enough to share their own truths. Her influence fostered community, connection, and creative courage.
Breeanna’s digital footprint reflected the same lively, sincere spirit she carried in person. With nearly 750 posts and a devoted following, she shared her joys, vulnerabilities, and artistic passions in ways that resonated deeply with many. Friends and collaborators remember her as someone who could brighten even the heaviest moments, offer reassurance when it was most needed, and gently guide others toward their own creative light.
Her death by suicide has left an immense ache in the hearts of her loved ones and within the wider Utah arts circle. Bree is survived by her sister, Mackenzie Smith, along with countless friends, peers, and admirers who were enriched by her presence, her words, and her empathy.
