A graduate of Port Clinton High School in 1979, Tracy distinguished himself as a celebrated athlete. He was inducted into the PCHS Athletic Hall of Fame, a member of the 1000-point club, and still holds the record for most points in a single basketball game with 44. His athletic prowess continued at Capital University, where he again achieved 1000 career points and left a lasting mark on the program.
Following college, Tracy returned to Port Clinton to work with his father at Port Clinton Lumber, beginning a lifelong commitment to his hometown. His passion for sports and youth development led him to join the PCHS basketball coaching staff, serve as Director of Port Clinton Youth Baseball, act as VP of the PC Athletic Boosters, and participate in the Elks Club, where he enjoyed directing the annual Hoop-Shoot.
In 1997, Tracy purchased and ran The Fanatic, a sporting goods store in Fremont, Ohio, while dedicating countless hours to coaching his sons’ youth sports teams. His public service career began in 2005 as Port Clinton Parks and Recreation Director, culminating as Safety Service Director after 21 years of service under five mayors. Throughout his career, Tracy was known for his integrity, hard work, and unwavering ability to bring people together for the betterment of the community.
Tracy was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Judy Colston, and his brother, Paul Colston. He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Terri (Schmidt) Colston, sons Derek (Kayla) Colston and Cory (Megan) Colston, and grandchildren Adelyn, Brooks, and Evelyn.
Tracy’s life was defined by his devotion to family, his commitment to his community, and his love of sports. He cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren, and treasured hosting friends and family to enjoy Ohio sports. His absence leaves a profound void in Port Clinton, yet his legacy will continue through the countless lives he touched.
