Moments later, police say 22-year-old Tyler Mathew Johns pulled alongside the family’s vehicle and fired multiple shots into the car. One of the bullets struck the child, who was rushed to a nearby hospital but could not be saved.Johns fled the scene but was tracked down within hours through a coordinated effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies, traffic cameras, and witness statements.
He was taken into custody and now faces a series of severe charges, including open murder with a deadly weapon and attempted murder.
