A tragic domestic violence incident Monday evening left three people dead, including two teenage boys and their stepfather, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
Authorities say the incident began around 6:50 p.m. at 103 Christophers Way when a woman, Kelly Grigsby, and her five-year-old child ran to a neighbor’s home and called 911, reporting an ongoing domestic dispute. She told law enforcement that the male occupant of the home was threatening the children and making threats toward responding officers.
When deputies arrived, they used their vehicles to illuminate the home’s front door, as the interior lights were off. Eric Grigsby, the stepfather, reportedly approached deputies with handguns and ignored commands to drop the weapons. He pointed the guns at law enforcement, prompting officers to fire. Grigsby returned fire before being subdued.
After securing the scene, deputies discovered the bodies of two teenage boys, identified as Grigsby’s 16-year-old and 14-year-old stepsons. The 16-year-old was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the 14-year-old succumbed to injuries despite attempts at resuscitation by Harris County EMS.
“This was a tragic family violence shooting resulting in the death of three individuals,” Sheriff Mike Jolley said. “Two teenage young men were shot and killed by their stepfather, and the stepfather was shot and killed by deputies. The deputies responded to the scene and acted exactly as they were trained.”
The bodies of Eric Grigsby and the two minors have been transported to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsies.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the GBI Regional Investigative Office in Columbus, GA, at (706) 565-7888.
