A serious multi-vehicle collision has forced the closure of the eastbound carriageway of the A120 between Colchester and Clacton‑on‑Sea. According to the Essex Traffic Control Centre, the incident was first reported at 5.20 pm and involved several vehicles, with emergency services present at the scene.
Drivers travelling east towards Clacton are facing delays of at least an hour as a result of the incident and the resulting traffic disruption. Navigation guidance from Google Maps recommends a diversion via Elmstead Market and Frating to bypass the closed section of the carriageway.
