Authorities have officially identified the man killed in an officer-involved shooting late Sunday night along Highway 20. The incident, which drew a large law enforcement response, remains under active investigation as officials work to determine the full circumstances leading up to the shooting.

On November 18, 2025, at 6:38 am, Powerview RCMP responded to a residence in Sagkeeng First Nation following two 911 calls of a male armed with a knife, Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who was holding a knife. An encounter occurred and an officer discharged their firearm.
The male sustained a serious injury, and officers immediately provided medical aid until EMS arrived.
The 29-year-old male was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, The officers involved were wearing body worn cameras, which were activated upon arrival at the scene, and were not injured during the incident.
The videos will be turned over to the Independent Investigation Unit, which has taken carriage of the officer-involved shooting investigation.
Powerview RCMP, along with officers from Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services, continue to investigate.
