A 16-year-old girl remembered for her selflessness and bright spirit was struck and killed by a train late Saturday night in Middletown. Police identified the victim as Caitlynne E. Miller, who was hit around 11:07 p.m. near 1819 Casper Ave.

According to the police report, two trains were stopped on the tracks when officers arrived. Three witnesses told police the teen had been between the trains moments before the accident. Investigators said no foul play is suspected in the tragic incident.

According to a witness, an adult male walking on Charles Street heard two girls screaming that their friend had been hit by a train. He rushed between the stopped trains and located Caitlynne while calling 911. He attempted to provide aid but found she had no pulse before emergency responders arrived.
