CLINTON, Wis. (WFRV) – Officials in Wisconsin are investigating after a 15-year-old girl died from injuries sustained when she was run over by a horse-drawn wagon.
According to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified on November 14 that a 15-year-old girl suffered serious injuries in Clinton around 11 a.m. after being run over by a wagon on private property.
The girl was reportedly riding on a horse-drawn, two-wheel cart with a standing-room-only platform. An 18-year-old Wisconsin man was driving the wagon when he reportedly threw a rock from a cart removed from the field, startling the horses.
According to the release, this caused the girl to fall onto the ground, being run over by an attached wagon loaded with ear corn picked from the field.
The girl was airlifted to a hospital in La Crosse, where she was pronounced dead early in the afternoon on November 14.
Officials are still investigating the incident.
