Everett Community College (EvCC) briefly went into lockdown Friday afternoon after reports of an armed subject on campus led to a swift law enforcement response and the arrest of two students. A weapon was recovered at the scene, according to authorities.
The lockdown was initiated at 12:57 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, after campus security received information about police activity involving a possible armed individual. EvCC immediately issued an emergency alert, notifying students and staff that the Main EvCC Campus and WSU Everett were in lockdown.
In the alert, the college instructed individuals on campus to lock doors, close blinds, turn off lights, seek shelter, and avoid being seen or heard. Those off campus were advised not to come to the area, and anyone outside buildings was urged to leave if it was safe to do so.
By 1:10 p.m., EvCC Security received confirmation from law enforcement that the suspects were in custody. Two students were arrested, and officers recovered the weapon allegedly involved in the incident. With the threat resolved, the college lifted the lockdown and resumed normal operations shortly afterward.
“Once we were sure the potential threat was resolved and everyone was safe, we resumed normal operations. At no time were any of our students or staff in harm’s way,” Everett Community College stated following the incident.
The college said updates were provided through campus email, text alerts for those subscribed, and the EvCC website. No injuries were reported.
Authorities have not yet released additional details about the students involved or what led to the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
