
SOCORRO, TX – A tragic early morning collision has claimed the life of Filbert Candelaria, a 32-year-old motorcyclist, in a crash that has left the Socorro community grieving and investigators working to piece together what happened.
The fatal accident occurred at approximately 1:25 a.m. on Saturday, in the 11100 block of Socorro Road, a busy corridor that serves both residential and commercial traffic. Socorro Police Department officers responded quickly after receiving reports of a serious crash involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle.
According to preliminary information, Candelaria was riding his motorcycle eastbound on Socorro Road when it collided with a Nissan passenger vehicle. The impact was severe, and emergency medical personnel arriving on the scene attempted life-saving measures, but Candelaria was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The occupants of the Nissan reportedly did not sustain any injuries.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the crash. Investigators are examining several potential contributing factors, including vehicle speed, visibility conditions, right-of-way compliance, and possible mechanical issues.
