Las Vegas Metropolitan Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Thursday evening in the parking lot of the Boca Park shopping center, leaving one person injured and prompting a temporary barricade situation.
The incident unfolded in the 700 block of South Rampart Boulevard as officers were in the area conducting a follow-up on a wanted suspect. According to LVMPD, officers heard a gunshot nearby and immediately began searching the surrounding area.
Police soon discovered an individual suffering from a gunshot wound. Medical personnel were already on scene and providing treatment. The condition of the injured person has not been released, and authorities have not confirmed whether the shooting was connected to the wanted suspect officers were initially searching for.
As part of the investigation, police closed the parking lot where the shooting occurred. However, businesses within the Boca Park complex have remained open, with officers maintaining a secure perimeter around the affected area.
