Arlington PD makes arrested in I-20 shooting that claimed the life of a pregnant female and her unborn child, The Arlington Police Department has made an arrest in connection to a November shooting along I-20 that resulted in the deaths of a pregnant woman and her unborn child.
Following a thorough investigation, APD Homicide Detectives obtained warrants for the arrest of 29-year-old Malik Miner on one count of Capital Murder, three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and one count of Deadly Conduct. On December 10, 2025, members of the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force located Mr. Miner in Midlothian, TX and took him into custody without incident.
On November 12, 2025, at approximately 7:41 p.m., a 28-year-old man called 911 to report that he and his girlfriend had been shot while traveling westbound along I-20 near Bowman Springs Road. The man got off the highway and pulled into a parking lot in the 4900 block of Little Road where first responders met them.
The man’s girlfriend, 29-year-old Bre’Asia Johnson, was found unresponsive in the passenger’s seat with a gunshot wound. She was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. Detectives learned she was pregnant at the time.
The 28-year-old man was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. He has since been released from the hospital. Two children were in the back seat of the vehicle when the shooting occurred. They were also transported to the hospital to be checked out by doctors but were no seriously injured.
Officers located a second vehicle that had also been struck by the gunfire. The occupants of that vehicle were not injured and are not believed to have any involvement in the incident
After speaking to witnesses and reviewing video footage they recovered, detectives determined the shooting was targeted and not the result of road rage. Through the course of their investigation, they learned that Mr. Miner was previously in a romantic relationship with Ms. Johnson and had been feuding with her current boyfriend, the 28-year-old man.
Detectives executed a search warrant on Mr. Miner’s home and seized multiple items, including his cell phone. A review of his phone revealed that he’d had previous communication with the 28-year-old man. Detectives also compared cell phone location records from Mr. Miner’s phone and Ms. Johnson’s phone. They not only placed Mr. Miner at the crime scene when the shooting occurred but also showed that his movements were nearly identical to Ms. Johnson’s movements in the minutes leading up to the shooting. The cell phone location records suggest that Mr. Minor followed the victims’ vehicle that night.
After consulting with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, detectives moved forward with filing charges. Mr. Miner declined to speak to investigators following his arrest.
