The Branson and Ozarks communities are mourning the loss of a beloved storyteller, respected leader, and cherished friend. Lisa Rau, former Ozarks news anchor and longtime Silver Dollar City Director of Public Relations, passed away today 11th october 2025 at the age of 64. Her passing marks the end of an extraordinary era—one defined by heartfelt storytelling, unwavering professionalism, and a deep, genuine love for the people and places that make the Ozarks home.
Lisa’s career began as an Ozarks journalist, where her warm presence, meticulous reporting, and compassionate spirit quickly made her a trusted face across the region. But in 1989, her journey took a new direction when she joined Silver Dollar City as the Director of Public Relations. Over the next three decades, Lisa would come to define not only the voice of the theme park, but also the tone of celebration, heritage, and community that Silver Dollar City is known for today.
In a heartfelt statement, Silver Dollar City described Lisa as an irreplaceable member of their family:
“Lisa was a member of our work family for more than three decades before retiring in 2023. Her passion for telling the stories of our special City and the Ozarks was unparalleled. As our PR Director, she built a legacy of theme park public relations through historic ride launches, grand openings, and ‘stunts with integrity.’ She was a tireless champion of our culture along the way. Her impact will live on in the hearts of our Citizens.”
Lisa had a gift for sharing stories—stories of heritage, innovation, excitement, and heart. Whether she was unveiling a new ride, welcoming guests to a new attraction, or highlighting the remarkable people behind the scenes, her words always carried warmth and authenticity. To countless employees, visitors, and community members, she was not simply a PR director—she was the heartbeat behind the message, the bridge between the park and the people.
In 2023, after retiring from Silver Dollar City, Lisa continued her service to the community by stepping into the role of Communications Director for the City of Branson. There, too, her natural leadership and steady presence made an immediate impact. Her ability to communicate with clarity, kindness, and conviction helped build trust and unity across the city.
Branson Mayor Larry Milton expressed his deep sorrow and admiration in a statement honoring her life:
“We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Lisa Rau, a beloved former Communications Director for the City of Branson, a dear friend of mine personally, and a cherished figure throughout the Ozarks. Lisa was a gifted storyteller whose work, from her years in broadcasting to her leadership roles at Silver Dollar City and here at the City, helped shape how the world sees our community.
Lisa brought passion, professionalism, and warmth to everything she did. She uplifted the people around her and dedicated her career to highlighting the very best of Branson. Her impact on our city is lasting and her loss is felt by all who knew and worked with her.
On behalf of the City of Branson, we extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues. Lisa’s legacy will remain a meaningful part of our community.”
Those who knew Lisa personally describe her as generous, thoughtful, strong, and endlessly kind. She possessed a rare ability to connect with others—to make them feel seen, valued, and appreciated. Her laughter, her optimism, and her deep love for the Ozarks touched every project she worked on and every person she encountered.
Lisa’s passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her legacy—rooted in passion, integrity, creativity, and love—will continue to inspire generations. The stories she told, the lives she touched, and the community she helped uplift stand as a living testament to a life profoundly well-lived.
To her family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing her: may her memory bring comfort, strength, and peace during this difficult time.
In loving memory of Lisa Rau—
A storyteller, a leader, a friend, and a forever treasured part of the Ozarks.
May her light continue to shine in the community she helped shape and the hearts she leaves behind.
