Authorities in Dyer County, Tennessee, are investigating a deadly and rapidly unfolding shooting incident that left one man dead and two others critically injured in the Lennox area early Thursday morning.
According to the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the Lennox community on December 18, 2025. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they discovered one adult male deceased from at least one gunshot wound. A second male victim had also been shot and was transported by EMS to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Investigators say the suspected shooter fled the scene in a vehicle. Shortly afterward, the suspect was involved in a head-on collision with an 18-wheeler on Interstate 155. Authorities believe the crash was an apparent suicide attempt. The suspect survived the collision and was transported by EMS to a hospital, where he is currently listed in critical condition.
Officials have confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public. Both the shooting location and the crash site remain active but secure as investigators continue to process evidence and interview witnesses.
The Dyer County Criminal Investigation Division has assumed control of the investigation. Deputies emphasize that the case is still in its early stages and details may change as more information becomes available.
