One person has been confirmed dead following a tragic incident on Highway 99 North in Bakersfield on Wednesday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the individual was possibly struck by multiple vehicles on Hwy 99 North just past White Lane around 7:00 p.m. The circumstances leading up to the incident remain under investigation.
CHP shut down the freeway at the Pacheco Road exit as officers worked the scene, causing significant traffic delays in the area. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim, and it is unclear whether impairment, visibility issues, or other factors played a role.
