This morning’s commute was severely impacted by a serious traffic incident involving a truck and a cyclist at the intersection of the Pacific Highway and Bombah Point Road in Bulahdelah. The crash resulted in extensive traffic delays and necessitated a temporary halt to traffic in both directions on the highway during peak hours of travel.
The incident was first reported around 6:30 a.m., triggering a rapid response from emergency personnel. Responders from New South Wales Police, NSW Ambulance paramedics, and traffic management teams quickly arrived to secure the area, offer medical aid, and handle the increasing gridlock on the busy highway.
Consequently, both northbound and southbound lanes of the Pacific Highway were temporarily shut down to enable emergency teams to operate safely and clear any debris from the roadway. Drivers traveling through Bulahdelah were advised to be cautious and adhere to the traffic detours established by local authorities.
By 7:03 a.m., traffic authorities managed to reopen the northbound lanes of the Pacific Highway, allowing partial traffic flow to resume and alleviating some congestion for those heading north. Conversely, the southbound lanes near Bombah Point Road remained closed as investigations and cleanup efforts were still in progress.
Motorists traveling south were recommended to utilize Bulahdelah Way as an alternate route until the highway can be completely reopened. Traffic jams continued to affect surrounding areas throughout the morning, resulting in delays for local residents, freight transporters, and long-distance travelers alike.
Paramedics were on-site to provide immediate care, and those injured were taken to nearby medical facilities for further treatment. At this point, officials have not disclosed specific information regarding the condition of those affected. The police have emphasized that the safety and health of everyone involved is their top priority.
