MIDLAND, Texas — The Midland community is mourning the tragic loss of Casey Michael Smith, 41, who died early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on State Highway 349.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Smith was traveling southbound near the intersection of SH 349 and County Road 270 when his motorcycle struck a gravel strip, causing him to veer off the roadway and collide with a pole. Despite wearing a helmet, Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
