HARRISON, Ark. — A man was found dead in a hotel room in Boone County, Arkansas, after barricading himself from law enforcement on Friday, According to a Harrison Police Department social media post, multiple 911 calls were made to Boone County Central Dispatch around 11:02 p.m. on Jan. 2, coming from the Holiday Inn Express.
As officials arrived on scene, they were alerted that the subject was armed and barricaded inside the hotel room, the post indicates.
Police say that the department’s special operations team and negotiator team were deployed to attempt to negotiate with the individual. The post states that no contact was made during the incident.
The incident lasted until after 1 a.m. on Jan. 3, when a gunshot was heard inside the room. Law enforcement made entry into the room and found a 49-year-old man dead with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Harrison police were assisted by the Harrison Fire Department, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office and the Arkansas State Police during the event.
Harrison Police Chief Chris Graddy reports that the investigation continues, according to the post.
