CLAY COUNTY, Miss. — A horrifying mass shooting spree in Clay County, Mississippi, has left six people dead, including a 7-year-old girl, after a gunman allegedly attacked three separate residences in rapid succession, authorities confirmed.
The suspect, 24-year-old Daricka Moore, was taken into custody early Saturday morning following the violent rampage that began on Friday evening, January 9, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and multiple media reports.
Timeline of the Deadly Rampage
Investigators say the shootings began at a home on David Hill Road, where Moore allegedly shot and killed three family members, all with gunshot wounds to the head:
Glenn Moore, 67 (father)
Quintin Moore, 33 (brother)
Willie Ed Guines, 55 (uncle)
All three victims were pronounced dead at the scene when deputies arrived.
After the initial killings, Moore allegedly stole his brother’s Ford F-150 truck and drove to a second residence on Blake Road, according to investigators.
7-Year-Old Girl Killed During Second Attack
At the second location, Sheriff Eddie Scott stated that Moore allegedly broke into the home and attempted to commit a sexual battery while armed with a handgun. During the incident, Moore reportedly shot a 7-year-old girl in the head in front of witnesses. The child, who was related to the suspect, was pronounced dead after deputies arrived.
A frantic 911 call alerted authorities to the unfolding violence.
Third Shooting Claims Two More Lives
Moore then allegedly traveled to a third residence on Siloam-Griffith Road, where deputies received yet another emergency call. At that location, authorities found the bodies of:
Barry Bradley
Samuel Bradley
Both men had been shot in the head, according to investigators. Authorities also located the stolen truck at the scene. Officials have not confirmed whether Moore had any personal relationship with the Bradleys.
Arrest and Charges
Moore was eventually arrested without incident at the intersection of Pine Grove Road and Joe Myers Road, while driving another vehicle allegedly stolen from the third residence.
He was booked into jail early Saturday and currently faces first-degree murder charges, which officials say will be upgraded to capital murder. Prosecutors have confirmed that the death penalty is being considered.
Investigation Ongoing
Authorities have not identified a motive for the killings. Sheriff Scott described the events as an “unimaginable tragedy,” stating, “I don’t know what kind of motive you could have to kill a 7-year-old.”
The investigation remains active as law enforcement works to piece together the full sequence of events behind one of the deadliest mass shootings in recent Mississippi history.
Further updates are expected as court proceedings begin and additional details are released.
