Scott Alan Hubert Arrested: Police Identify 64-Year-Old Man Accused of Killing Wife – REPORT – Police have identified the man accused of fatally shooting his wife Monday in east Las Vegas as 64-year-old Scott Alan Hubert.According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting occurred at 11:31 a.m. in the 2800 block of Karen Avenue, near East Sahara Road and McLeod Drive, during an argument between Hubert and his wife, Stephanie Burton. Burton was pronounced dead at the scene.
After the shooting, Hubert allegedly fired at a neighbor before fleeing the residence in a 2023 Kia Soul. The Arizona Highway Patrol later located the vehicle near Kingman, Arizona, and a pursuit ensued. The chase ended in a desert area after spike strips were deployed. Hubert then barricaded himself inside the vehicle and reportedly shot himself in the head. He was transported to a hospital in Kingman and later to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas with life-threatening injuries.
Clark County Detention Center records show Hubert was booked in absentia on charges of murder and attempted murder. Court records indicate he missed a scheduled initial appearance Tuesday due to being in medical isolation at the hospital. He is scheduled to appear in court again Thursday.
According to an arrest report, Burton’s daughter had called her mother Monday morning to check in. Burton told her daughter over the phone that she planned to divorce Hubert. When the daughter returned to the residence, she found Burton lying on the ground with police present.
The report also notes that a neighbor heard gunshots and confronted Hubert, who warned, “you should stop asking questions or you’re next,” before attempting to drive away. Hubert then allegedly fired at the neighbor, who returned fire with his own pistol. Hubert worked as an Uber driver.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
