Alex Deaton, the Mississippi man serving a life sentence for multiple violent crimes, was found dead in his cell in Rankin County on Saturday, according to officials.
Deaton became widely known after a series of deadly attacks that shocked Mississippi in 2017. In 2018, he pleaded guilty in Rankin County Court to murder, a drive-by shooting, and motor vehicle theft. His crimes included the killing of his estranged girlfriend, Heather Robinson, as well as the death of 69-year-old Brenda Pinter, who was shot inside a church in Neshoba County.
Authorities have not yet released details on Deaton’s cause of death, and the investigation is now underway.
Officials say more information will be provided as soon as it becomes available.
