The Arlington Police Department has made an arrest in connection to the November 12 shooting along I-20 that resulted in the tragic deaths of 29-year-old Bre’Asia Johnson and her unborn child, the serious injury of her 28-year-old boyfriend, and the endangerment of two young children who were inside the vehicle at the time. Authorities announced that 29-year-old Malik Miner has been taken into custody following a comprehensive investigation that identified him as the suspect responsible for the deadly attack.
The Arlington Police Department confirmed that warrants had been issued for Miner on charges including one count of Capital Murder, three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and one count of Deadly Conduct. On December 10, 2025, the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force located Miner in Midlothian, Texas, and arrested him without incident.
The fatal shooting occurred on November 12, 2025, at approximately 7:41 p.m., when the surviving victim placed a 911 call reporting that both he and his girlfriend had been shot while traveling westbound along Interstate 20 near Bowman Springs Road. After pulling into a parking lot in the 4900 block of Little Road, first responders found Bre’Asia Johnson unresponsive in the passenger seat with a gunshot wound. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Investigators later confirmed she was pregnant.
The 28-year-old male victim sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he underwent treatment. He has since been released. Two children in the back seat were evaluated at Medical City Arlington as a precaution and fortunately were not seriously injured. A second vehicle in the area was also struck by gunfire; however, its occupants were not harmed and are not believed to have been involved.
Detectives determined that the shooting was targeted rather than a random act of road rage. Through witness statements, video evidence, and digital data, investigators uncovered that Miner previously had a romantic relationship with Johnson and had been engaged in an ongoing feud with her current boyfriend. A search warrant executed at Miner’s residence uncovered his cellphone, which contained prior communication with the male victim. Further review of cell phone location data placed Miner at the scene at the exact time of the shooting and revealed that his movements mirrored those of Johnson’s vehicle in the minutes leading up to the attack—strongly indicating that Miner had followed the victims.
With evidence presented to the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, charges were formally pursued. Miner declined to give a statement to detectives after his arrest.
In the original police release, officers had urged the public to come forward with information as the early investigation progressed. At that time, the identity of the deceased woman had not yet been officially released pending notification of next of kin.
