Deadly Robbery Attempt at Cleveland Smoke Shop Leaves Employee Fatally Shot, In the early hours of Monday morning, a tragic scene unfolded at a smoke shop located near East 159th Street and Lakeshore Boulevard in Cleveland, where an attempted robbery turned fatal.
According to authorities, multiple males entered the store in an effort to rob the business. During the chaotic encounter, one of the employees was shot. Responding officers later found the victim unresponsive outside the shop.
Emergency crews transported the wounded employee to the nearest trauma center in critical condition, but despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner has identified the victim as 34-year-old Samir Santana.
Police have not yet released information regarding the suspects involved or whether any arrests have been made. Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attempted robbery, reviewing surveillance footage and gathering witness statements.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as they work to identify those responsible for the deadly attack.
