It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Shawn McCormick, beloved husband, father, friend, and community leader from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
Shawn lost his courageous battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, leadership, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.
Shawn was a graduate of Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, where he began cultivating the qualities that would define his life: generosity, determination, and an infectious sense of humor.
Those who knew him will remember his warm personality, his readiness to share a laugh, and his uncanny ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued.
Shawn had a way of connecting with people, whether it was offering thoughtful advice, photobombing with a smile, or sharing a belly laugh with friends. He brought joy into the lives of everyone around him, and his absence leaves a tremendous void.
Family was the cornerstone of Shawn’s life. He shared 35 wonderful years with his wife, Glenda, and together they raised two remarkable sons, Colin and Ian, who were the pride and joy of his heart.

Shawn’s dedication extended far beyond his family. He was a passionate community leader whose efforts touched countless lives across Dartmouth and beyond. His commitment to service was evident in his numerous roles, including: President of the Dartmouth Rotary Club, President of the Dartmouth Whalers, Commodore of the Senobe Paddling Club, and President of Camp Kidston.
