Wilmington Police have identified the two individuals found dead Tuesday morning in what investigators now confirm was a domestic-violence-related murder-suicide at the Hanover Apartments on Wilshire Boulevard.
The tragic discovery was made just before 11 a.m., prompting a rapid response from officers and emergency personnel. The incident has left the local community shaken as authorities continue their investigation.
According to WPD spokesperson Greg Willett, officers arrived at the apartment complex after receiving a call for service. Upon entering one of the units, they discovered two adults — a 40-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman — who were both deceased.
Willett emphasized that there was no immediate threat to the public and that the situation appeared to be confined to the apartment involved. Authorities have identified the individuals as Delonte Reed, 40, and Eureka McDonald, 46, both residents of Wilmington.
Following an initial review of evidence and statements from witnesses, investigators concluded that the deaths were the result of a domestic situation, and the case is now being treated as a murder-suicide.
