
A tragic crash on Interstate 10 claimed the life of a motorcyclist on Thursday evening, August 28. The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed that 47-year-old Derrick Brockington, of Connecticut, was killed in the accident, which occurred around 5:40 p.m. in the westbound lanes near Rose City. According to investigators, Brockington was traveling westbound when his motorcycle collided with a tractor-trailer that was stopped in the middle lane due to traffic congestion.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, but Brockington was pronounced dead shortly after the collision by a Justice of the Peace. Officials reported that the driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
The crash caused significant traffic delays as westbound lanes were temporarily closed while troopers conducted their investigation and cleared the roadway. Motorists were diverted until the scene was safely reopened.
