A late-night incident in the Frankewing community has turned deadly after a man was fatally injured during an aggravated assault on Thursday, December 26, 2025. According to the Giles County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the scene at approximately 9:50 p.m. after receiving a report of an aggravated assault. When deputies arrived, they found the victim, later identified as Douglas Winborn, suffering from a life-threatening injury. The situation was described as critical, prompting an immediate emergency response.
Deputies quickly rendered medical aid to Mr. Winborn while waiting for emergency medical services to arrive. EMS personnel then took over care and transported him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for advanced treatment. Despite the efforts of first responders and hospital staff, Mr. Winborn succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. His death has deeply impacted the local community.
