Toronto Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred Wednesday afternoon at Dundas Station, near Dundas Street East and Yonge Street, prompting a significant emergency response in the downtown core.
Officers were called to the station around 1:10 p.m. after receiving reports that a person had been stabbed inside the subway facility. Upon arrival, police located a victim suffering from stab wounds.
Toronto Paramedic Services transported the injured victim to hospital for treatment. The male suspect, who was taken into custody at the scene, was also transported to hospital with injuries. Police have not released details regarding the nature of his injuries or whether they were self-inflicted or sustained during the incident.
A heavy police presence remained in the area throughout the afternoon as officers secured the scene and gathered evidence. Commuters reported delays and restricted access to parts of the station as the investigation unfolded.
Toronto Police say the investigation is ongoing and have not yet released information about the circumstances leading up to the stabbing or whether the victim and suspect knew each other.
